The most colorful run in the world comes to Verona

The Rainbow Young Run has reached its sixth edition and will be staged on Saturday, 26 May

An explosion of colors will again this year welcome participants in the Rainbow Young Run, the colourful non-competitive run that will be held on Saturday, 26 May in San Martino Buon Albergo, sponsored by Nova Systems. Now in its sixth edition, the event, much in vogue in the United States and inspired by the ancient Indian festival of colors called “Holi”, is organised by the Young Sport & Cultura Community, the great community than brings together the young people of San Martino, with the patronage of the departments of Sport and Youth Policies of the Municipality of San Martino Buon Albergo, the Province of Verona and the Veneto Regional Committee of the Italian National Olympic Committee, with the collaboration with the young people’s Council of San Martino Buon Albergo.

The event is sponsored by Nova Systems

The start of the colorful run is scheduled for 5.30 p.m. from the Parco Olimpia Ugo Pozzan in the Borgo della Vittoria district. Participants can choose between two non-competitive runs, during which powders in natural colors will be released, 4 and 7 kilometres long through some of the most evocative places in the valley of Marcellise. “The idea of dedicating a colorful event came from the wish to convey a positive message, a sort of cry of freedom that dispels the greyness in which we are often enveloped. A fun event that breaks down every frontier using the passion for sport as a bond between people,” said Emanuela Biondani, coordinator of Young Sport & Cultura Community. “Everyone can take part in the Rainbow Young Run, adults and children aged 3 years and above, running or walking, and become the stars of a happy, colorful day. The only rule to follow is to dress in white at the starting line: along the runs, there will be various colour-points, ready to involve the participants.”

Profits from the run will go to charity, in favor of the San Martino sports societies that support athletes whose families face serious difficulties. Registration is limited to a maximum of 1,500 participants. The fee for taking part is 18 euros for adults while children (born in 2009 or later) pay 13 euros. A T-shirt, a pair of colored glasses and a color pack are included. Food and wine stalls will be in operation at the sports centre and the run will go ahead even if it rains. For more information.
